In the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, the quality of a weld is not just about structural integrity—it is a matter of public safety. A single pit, crack, or crevice in a piping system can become a breeding ground for bacteria, leading to batch contamination and massive financial losses.
At Vishwakarma Enterprises, we understand that "clean" isn't just a look; it is a measurable engineering standard. Here is why our sanitary welding process is the preferred choice for industry leaders in Nashik and beyond.
1. The Geometry of a Sanitary Weld
In standard structural welding, a slight overlap or "bead" is acceptable. In Sanitary Welding, the interior surface of the joint must be perfectly flush.
Zero Crevices: We ensure there are no "shadow areas" where product can get trapped during the Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) process.
Full Penetration: Our TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) process ensures the weld penetrates 100% of the wall thickness, leaving a smooth, silver bead on the inside of the tube.
2. The Role of Argon Purging
When stainless steel is heated during welding, it reacts with oxygen, creating a rough, oxidized surface known as "sugar." To prevent this, we utilize Back Purging.
We fill the inside of the pipe with high-purity Argon gas to displace all oxygen before the arc is struck.
This results in an internal weld that is as smooth and corrosion-resistant as the rest of the pipe.
3. Surface Finish and "Ra" Values
A sanitary weld is only complete after it has been properly finished. We use precision grinding and polishing to achieve specific Roughness Average (Ra) values.
Mechanical Polishing: We grind welds flush and polish them to a #4 brushed or #8 mirror finish based on your specific compliance needs.
Passivation: After fabrication, we treat the stainless steel to restore its protective oxide layer, ensuring maximum resistance to the harsh chemicals used in wash-down environments.
